The Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG), founded in 1951 in Corning, New York, is an international centre devoted entirely to glass in all its forms—art, science, history, design, and innovation. Its collection surpasses 50,000 objects, spanning more than 3,500 years of glassmaking history—from early Egyptian and Roman pieces, to the vibrant output of Venetian and Islamic glass traditions, to ground-breaking modern and contemporary art and design.

Beyond being a repository, CMoG is a living museum: live demonstrations of hot glass, flameworking, and other glassmaking techniques occur daily in its Amphitheater Hot Shop; visitors can try their hand at glassmaking themselves in “Make Your Own Glass” studios. The Rakow Research Library supports scholarship with extensive rare manuscripts, artist archives, and publications; meanwhile, the Studio and the new Glassmaking Institute provide training, residencies, and commissions for artists pushing the medium forward.
