This weekend the Guild of Glass Engravers presents an exhibition of work by its members in St Helens at the International Festival of Glass.
Don’t miss seeing the fantastic range of work from established practitioners to emerging artists at the beginning of their engraving journeys. Once predominantly composed of professional engravers, the Guild now represents a diverse community of makers whose practices encompass a wide range of techniques, approaches and artistic concerns.
United by a shared engagement with glass, these artists combine technical mastery with innovation and personal vision, continually expanding the expressive potential of the medium. The exhibition showcases a variety of engraving techniques, including copper wheel engraving, drill and stipple work, and diamond-wheel engraving, each used in distinctive and imaginative ways.
Together, the works reveal how this historic craft continues to evolve, responding to contemporary ideas while remaining rooted in a deep understanding of glass, material and process.
The exhibition is open from Friday to Monday of the Bank Holiday weekend, from 10am to 4pm, at The Quaker House, 20B George St, Saint Helens WA10 1BU
